This Privacy Policy explains how LevelCheck ("LevelCheck," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the LevelCheck mobile application (the "App") and the LevelCheck website at levelcheck.live (the "Website"), together the "Service."
The App is designed as a local-first product: your measurement and workflow data is created, analyzed, and stored on your device. We built LevelCheck to minimize data collection and to avoid cloud storage of your app data whenever possible.
The App stores operational data locally on your iPhone. We do not receive this data on our servers.
This Local App Data stays in your app container unless you choose to include your device in system-level backup tools such as iCloud Backup.
LevelCheck requires microphone access to perform live measurement and analysis. Audio handling in the App is designed for real-time signal processing:
You can withdraw microphone access at any time in iOS settings. Measurement features will be unavailable while microphone permission is disabled.
We do not collect, store, or receive the following from within the App:
We do not run advertising SDKs in the App.
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the minimum entitlement information needed to unlock purchased functionality.
We do not receive your full payment card details, billing address, or Apple account password. Billing operations and refunds are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies.
When server-side receipt validation is enabled, the App may send subscription transaction identifiers to our backend solely to verify entitlement status. This does not include your Apple ID or payment details.
To operate and improve the App, we send limited, anonymous operational events from the App to our backend at api.levelcheck.live. This telemetry does not include audio, measurement readings, session history, profile contents, or your name or email.
Measurement data, guided check results, and history remain on your device as described in Section 3. Telemetry can be distinguished from Local App Data: telemetry is limited operational metadata; Local App Data is your full measurement and setup records stored only on-device.
We may receive limited aggregate and operational information from platform providers.
We use these sources to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not use this information for cross-site behavioral advertising.
The Website is hosted on Railway and may process limited technical information needed to serve pages and maintain reliability, such as IP address, request metadata, and user-agent details in server logs.
We use first-party, privacy-oriented analytics on the Website: anonymous page views and session counts sent to our API at api.levelcheck.live. This uses a random visitor identifier stored in your browser (not your name or email). We do not run third-party analytics scripts, ad pixels, or cross-site tracking on the Website. We do not sell website visitor data.
If you choose to contact us or sign up for updates, we process the information you submit — such as your email address, name (if provided), and message content. This applies to support requests, beta access requests, press inquiries, newsletter signups on the Website, and newsletter signups in the iOS app settings.
We only collect an email address when you voluntarily provide it. We use this information to respond, deliver requested updates, operate beta access, and improve the Service. We do not publish your communications and we do not sell contact details. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails via the app, a Website unsubscribe flow, or by replying to any LevelCheck email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.
Where we process limited personal data (primarily website operations and support communications), our purposes include:
If GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases for the limited processing described above:
To the extent we process personal data subject to GDPR or similar laws, LevelCheck is generally the controller for website and support-related information we collect. For App data that remains on your device, we do not receive or store that data on our servers.
Depending on local law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, or port personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we do so only after considering the impact of the processing and balancing those interests against your rights and freedoms.
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to know, access, delete, correct, and limit certain uses of personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. We also do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the Service, operating the Website, and handling support or compliance obligations.
California residents may submit a privacy request by emailing support@levelcheck.live. You may designate an authorized agent as permitted by law.
Residents of other jurisdictions with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to appeal a request if your local law provides that right. Please contact us at the email below to submit a request.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share limited information only with:
We require service providers to process information under appropriate confidentiality and security protections.
The App's core measurement data remains on your device. Limited website and support communication data may be processed in jurisdictions where our providers operate. When required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights that include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent (where applicable). Because the App is local-first, many controls are available directly on your device.
We may need to verify identity before processing certain requests.
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined in applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
Residents of states with privacy laws (including California) may submit requests regarding applicable rights by contacting support@levelcheck.live.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Service. If you believe a child provided personal data to us through support channels, contact us and we will investigate and address the report.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the limited data we process. The App's local-first architecture reduces centralized data exposure, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
The Service may link to third-party websites or platforms (including Apple and hosting providers). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we recommend reviewing.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
